We’ve now been to Phuket four times. We love the island from sunrise to sunset. It’s hot and humid so if you’re planning to exercise, do it early. We love to cycle along some of the coastal roads. If you’re new to Asia, walking with monkeys is a fun adventure. If you’ve lived here for a while you may change your mind! When people leave Thailand they talk about the food……….street food or fine dining, it’s all delicious. Many of the larger hotels provide walking tours through the market, but really it’s no problem just parking up and exploring on your own.
An often forgotten part of Phuket for visitors is Phuket Town. It’s the old part of Phuket and has many historical buildings. Temples and many places to eat as you would expect, but also buildings with Sino-Portuguese features. It’s also the place where the local ex-pat community go to listen to live music.
Big Buddha, is the most well known landmarks on Phuket. It is 45 metres tall and is worth the climb for the amazing views across Phuket and beyond.
And finally, of course the beaches. Stick to the west coast and you won’t be disappointed. Breath taking viewpoints and pure golden sand beaches. Safe swimming and always a little cafe serving exquisite thai food somewhere nearby.
